Maria Callas & Swarovski: Jewels on
Stage
Berlin, March-April 2008
Concept & Art direction by Nando Miglio
The opulent Konzerthaus of Berlin hosted an
exceptional exhibition dedicated to the jewels
(designed by Marangoni Institute and then bought
and restored by Swarovski) that Maria Callas
worn through her incomparable career.
For this occasion Miglio reproduced a photographer's
studio, a set in neat contrast with the magnificence
of the place.
Twenty-five identical mannequins have been made
in exclusive for the event; all in smoke-grey
colour to better set off the jewels, in standing
position like Giacometti's sculptures and with
abstract face features, similar to Modigliani's
and Brancusi's portraits.
The travelling exhibition "Jewels on Stage"
will hit Paris soon, and then Stockholm, New
York, Tokyo and all the capitals of the great
musical culture.
